The term whitewash means to censor and cover up. To whitewash something is an overly optimistic but sometimes-incorrect description of a concept, making something negative seem at first glance to be positive- often used in politics, dictatorships, and presentation of historical fact (or lack there of). In this series I am exploring the idea of whitewashing physically through the application of paint and gesso and conceptually through exploring subject matter that is getting the whitewash treatment including: surveillance, human and animal rights, psychological conditions, and environment issues.
